Vertical Electrophoresis System (SVE-2)
The SVE-2 electrophoresis system is an vertical electrophoresis system and a tool for protein separation. It requires less electrophoresis buffer than similar systems to complete electrophoresis experiments and meet the needs of different sample volumes. The SVE-2 can be adapted to glass plates and gel-making combs with various thicknesses and it can be used by itself or together with the SVT-2 transfer electrophoresis tank. Its uniquely designed card plate matches the whole gland, and the glass plate can therefore be sealed by squeezing the sealing strip, avoiding the phenomenon of liquid leakage due to the side card not being lifted in place.
What is electrophoresis?
Electrophoresis is the process of separating DNA, RNA, or protein molecules based on their size and electrical charge.
It is widely used in biology, medicine and other fields, such as nucleic acid gel electrophoresis, protein gel electrophoresis, Western Blot protein transfer and other experiments.
Electrophoresis works by applying a DC electric field to fragments of nucleic acids or proteins. Charged particles will then migrate towards electrodes with opposite signs on a matrix of gel.
Shorter molecules move faster and travel farther than larger molecules, so they can be separated by size or charge.
After the procedure, the migration can be visualized as a spectrum of bands using transilluminators and gel imagers.
Features for the Vertical Electrophoresis System (SVE-2)
- In-situ gel-making mode where the gel-making and running process can be completed without disassembling and assembling the electrophoresis glass. It is compatible with the running and electrophoresis requirements of the pre-cast gel products of this model.
- The gel base is specially designed and locked by non-spring buckles to avoid gel leakage caused by insufficient spring pressure or aging.
- The uniquely designed card plate is matched with the whole gland, so that the glass plate can be sealed by squeezing the sealing strip, avoiding liquid leakage due to the side card not being lifted in place.
- To meet the needs of different sample volumes, it can be adapted to glass plates and gel-making combs with various thickness intervals (1.5mm, 1mm , 0.75mm).
- This electrophoresis instrument requires less electrophoresis buffer, and a minimum of 300mL can complete electrophoresis experiments.
- Can be used with SVT-2 transfer electrophoresis tank.
